What follows a Governors Discipline Committee (GDC) meeting for permanent exclusion

What happens after a GDC meeting for permanent exclusion and the possibility of an independent review

What follows a GDC meeting depends on the outcome of the meeting.

Direct reinstatement

If the decision is to reinstate, the GDC has the power to set a date for your child’s return to school.

This should be as soon as possible. However, if it is not immediately following the GDC, there may be a delay to allow enough time for you, your child, school staff and any other agencies involved to agree a plan to support your child’s return and help it to be as successful as possible.

Upholding the exclusion

If the governors uphold the permanent exclusion, you will have 15 school days from the date you are notified of their decision to ask for a further review by an Independent Review Panel (IRP).
