Careers - information for young people
Providing access for young people to a wide range of information and resources
The Hampshire Futures Careers Service supports young people with their long-term career goals.
The Careers Service includes:
- A wide range of materials on the digital careers information platform
- Access to the Flying Start website
- A summer support programme, including an exam results helpline
- Links to other teams that can also support you
We also support young people within their educational setting as part of our traded service.
If you find yourself out of education, employment or training we can refer you to our Education and Participation Team.

Online Careers Information Service
As well as career information, our online support includes advice and activities to help you with your future planning and improve employability skills.
What we can offer
Information is available on a variety of topics:
- Schools, colleges and higher education
- Apprenticeships
- Employment and training opportunities
- Useful websites, including those that are career-focused
- Interactive videos
- SEND and inclusivity
- Wellbeing
- Finance
- Information for those who are new arrivals to the UK
- Information for those who are based on the Isle of Wight
- Information and opportunities for those in care and care leavers

Summer support programme
A two week long programme with activities and information to support both those that have just finished their GCSEs (end of Year 11), and those that have just completed college courses.
What we can offer
- Access to a qualified careers adviser through email and telephone helpline
- Different programmes available for those of school leaving age and those of college leaving age

Flying Start
Whether you're 16 and about to finish school or you're in post-16 education and reconsidering your options, it can be helpful to take some time to plan your next steps, though it can often be difficult to know where to start.
Flying Start includes activities you can work through that will help you to identify:
- What’s important to you and your future
- Your skills and qualities
- The skills you want to develop and how to use them in the world of work

Education Participation Support
The Education Participation Team offers individualised support for young people to help them access employment, education, and training opportunities. We specialise in supporting vulnerable young people in Year 12 and 13 (aged 16-18) across Hampshire.
If you're not currently enrolled in education or training or are unemployed, we're here to help. We offer support that can help you find the right path for your future. Our team can work with you to identify your strengths, interests and goals and help you to develop a plan to achieve them.

Professional referrals
If you are a professional who would like to refer a young person to the Careers Team for support, complete the Hampshire Futures referral form and email it to [email protected].
Our team will review the information provided and, if appropriate, work with the young person to provide tailored support to help them achieve their goals.
