About Hampshire County Council elections

Every four years the County Council holds an election for all of its electoral divisions. The election originally scheduled for May 2025 was postponed due to the County Council’s participation in the Government’s Devolution Priority Programme.

County Councillors represent all the people within their divisions and use their local knowledge to help the Council make decisions on the services provided to Hampshire's 1.4 million residents (excluding Southampton and Portsmouth), including education, roads and social care for vulnerable children and adults, as well as access to the countryside and libraries.
