Case Workers and Senior Case Workers
Case work is an excellent introduction to social work and it’s not essential to have previous experience in a social care setting. What’s important, is that you can work compassionately with individuals in difficult circumstances. If you're interested in a career in social work, these roles are an excellent first step on a social work career pathway.
Case workers assess needs and provide people with support and guidance. Our goal is to enable clients to maximise their independence and wellbeing. Using a strengths-based approach, we focus on what a person can do and identify community resources to support them.
Senior case workers are usually experienced case workers and undertake similar duties for clients with more complex needs within their area of specialism. Senior case workers will also provide coaching and mentoring support to case workers.
The roles involve:
Promoting wellbeing and supporting individuals to maximise their independence, through initial assessments and ongoing reviews
Responding to concerns and identifying and mitigating risks
Empowering individuals to access the information and support they need, for themselves
We recruit for attitudes and values, for everything else there’s training.
Our experienced case workers can also be considered for our Social Work apprenticeship scheme. The apprenticeship is currently run by the University of Winchester, leading to a career as a qualified social worker.
