Salary
Your salary will increase yearly based on performance and experience, up to the highest step within your grade. This is in addition to the annual pay increase for local government employees which is negotiated nationally.
Pension
You’ll be enrolled in one of our workplace pension schemes, like the Local Government Pension Scheme or Teachers’ Pensions Scheme. Both offer secure, guaranteed retirement income based on your salary and contributions. The County Council also contributes to your pension.
Paid leave
You'll get at least 24 days of annual leave (pro rata if you’re part-time), increasing to 30 days (pro-rata) after five years, depending on your salary grade, plus bank holidays. If you’re unwell and can’t work, we offer occupational sick pay, including extended periods for long-term sickness.
Financial wellbeing
You'll have access to financial wellbeing resources through Salary Finance, including:
- Budgeting tools and self-help resources
- Access to finance products, including savings, loans and salary advances
We also offer preferential rates for loans for bikes, cars, IT equipment, personal development and season tickets for parking and public transport. Plus, an ultra-low emission vehicle salary sacrifice scheme. Repayments will be deducted from your salary.

Employee discounts and benefits
Our employees have access to a wide range of discounts on products and services, including grocery shopping, fitness, broadband and dining – as well as specific help with travel costs:
- 20% discount on South Western Railway season tickets to five destination stations*
- 10% discount on MOTs at County Council workshops

*These discounts are offered by the operators/retailers and can be changed or withdrawn.
