Further information

The Hampshire Integrated Character Assessment provides a framework for more detailed local character assessments. These are generally undertaken by District and Borough Councils and protected landscape bodies. Assessments are available on their respective websites.

Collectively, these assessments provide an evidence base which is used in the county council’s work. This work includes:

  • strategic planning
  • land management, and
  • place shaping programmes

Historic Landscape Characterisation is used alongside landscape character assessment to help us understand how our current landscape evolved.
