What people told us, and what we changed

You said:

"It would be better if we knew what time the carers were coming."

We did:

At the first visit, staff now clearly explain that Reablement is an untimed service. This means staff stay as long as needed to support recovery, rather than working to set appointment times.

We understand that:

  • This may be different from what people were told previously, or
  • Information may not always be easy to remember later

To support this, we have:

  • Updated all written information to clearly explain why Reablement is not a timed service
  • Provided regular training and discussions so staff are confident explaining this
  • Worked with internal and external partners to ensure information is clear and consistent

Our publications now explain:

"Reablement support visits are an untimed service. This means our staff will stay as long as needed during each visit to support your recovery. Visits start from 7am and are prioritised based on need. While exact times may vary, we aim to offer general time slots."

You said:

"It would be helpful to know if there is a delay with equipment."

We did:

Hampshire Equipment Services has updated its electronic system so that possible delays are easier to identify.

This means staff can give clearer and more timely updates when equipment is delayed.

You said:

"It would be better to have the same Occupational Therapist for reviews, especially with complex or long‑term conditions."

We did:

Where possible, we try to allocate the same Occupational Therapist to support continuity and smoother reviews.

However, this is not always possible due to service demand or staff availability. When this happens, therapists have full access to records to ensure continuity of care.

You said:

"I do not want a male carer."

We did:

We record and consider personal preferences wherever possible.

However, due to staffing availability, requests may not always be possible. We want to reassure people that:

  • Our teams are diverse
  • All staff are highly trained
  • Everyone is committed to respectful, safe and high‑quality care
