Hampshire County Council Residential and Nursing Care Homes

Hampshire County Council has care homes across Hampshire, providing nursing and residential care, including care for those living with dementia. You may be coming to our service because:

  • You have had a short term service from us, and after the service ended it was decided that you would benefit from moving into a care home
  • You have recently been discharged from hospital
  • You have had a Care Assessment from Hampshire County Council which has determined that your ongoing care and support needs will be best met in a care home

Our skilled, caring and friendly teams include nurses, assistant unit managers, senior carers and care assistants who will support you.

About this service

On arrival, we will help you to unpack and to complete an inventory of belongings you have arrived with. Please tell us if you are missing any items so that we can help you to find them.

We encourage residents to bring personal items, such as photographs and pictures. Your room will be furnished on arrival, so we are unable to accommodate additional pieces of furniture. For your own peace of mind, we discourage keeping any valuables in your room.

When you move into the home, we will register you with a local GP practice. Staff will manage your prescribed medication unless you request a self-medication plan from the GP.

You will be able to choose your meals from our seasonal daily menu. Meals can be enjoyed in your room or in one of our comfortable dining areas. Snacks and refreshments, including tea and coffee, are available in our dining rooms and lounges throughout the day and night. We encourage you and your visitors to make drinks and refreshments, but staff will be on hand if you need help.

We will give you more details about the service and facilities when you arrive.

Visitors are welcome at any time. Please let reception know in advance if anyone plans to visit before 8.30am or after 9.30pm.

Pets are also welcome to visit but must be suitably managed. Please keep dogs on a lead.

In the event of an outbreak of infection, visitors will be advised prior to any visits being made to the home.

Free parking is available, with allocated disabled bays.

We can also accommodate virtual visits and phone calls. Please book by calling reception.

Depending on your financial circumstances, you may need to pay some or all the cost of your care and support.

Paying for care in a care home

Hampshire County Council's Care Homes

Our Brokerage team will help you to find a care home that is suitable for your needs.

What if I choose a different care home, that is more expensive than a Hampshire County Council care home?

If you’d prefer to stay in a care home that is more expensive than a home we offer, you are able to ask someone else, such as a family member to help pay towards the cost of your care. This is called a top-up payment.
