Early Years Pupil Premium
Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) provides nurseries, pre-schools, and childminders with extra funding to support children to achieve the best early years outcomes.
EYPP is an additional hourly amount paid to the provider based on the number of early years education (EYE) funding hours claimed, up to 570 hours per year, for eligible children. EYPP should be used to support the development, learning and care of children in an early year’s provision.
Eligibility
EYPP is determined by the benefits a family is receiving, or if the child is looked after by a local authority; for full details of the eligibility criteria see the Get extra funding for your early years provider - GOV.UK webpage.
From April 2024, EYPP was expanded to include 2 year olds provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
From September 2024, EYPP was further expanded to children from aged 9 months provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
The national hourly rate is set in the Early Years National Funding Formula.
