Early Years National Funding Formula banding values 2025/26

The rates applied to the funding formula have been updated to take affect from 1 April 2025:

  • the working family under 2’s hourly rate has been increased by £0.14 to £10.77 per hour
  • the disadvantaged and working family 2 year old hourly rate has been increased by £0.07 to £7.88 per hour
  • the 3 and 4 year old hourly rate has been increased by £0.22 to £5.83 per hour
  • the Special Education Need Inclusion Fund (SENIF) hourly rate for all eligible children has been increased by £0.58 to £6.58 per hour

The government has also increased the:

  • Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) rate from £0.68 to £1.00 per hour for eligible children. For further information visit the EYPP webpage
  • Disability Access Fund (DAF) annual lump sum from £910 to £938 for eligible children. For further information visit the DAF webpage
Deprivation supplement - based on IDACI rank

Deprivation supplements are based on the postal code in which a child lives. Any applicable supplement will be added to the hourly funding rate for hours claimed:

How providers will receive the Deprivation Funding

It is important for settings to provide correct postcodes with the addresses for children for whom they are claiming. This will be used to work out how much deprivation funding will be paid against each child’s claimed attendance. The deprivation amount will be added to your headcount claim and paid in the usual way.

The Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI) tool will be used to allocate funding as it uses the postcode of each child. At the beginning of the following term, you will be sent a notification in the provider portal of the amount of the IDACI payment. Please do not contact us for these details before this notification.

Timescale

Mid/late March

The value of the base rate and the funding bands for each of the elements is set and published on this page.

By 31 March

Each registered provider is formally notified of their funding bandings and the hourly rate that will be paid to them, with an indicative budget for the whole financial year (starting on 1 April).
