Foster dad and children

On Wednesday 14 August, Hampshire County Council Fostering Service teamed up Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight for a fun-filled afternoon at Royal Victoria Country Park. A celebration of foster carers across these communities, the event was the official launch of the new South East Regional Fostering Hub on the South Coast, which will bring together Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight Councils as well as 16 other councils across the wider South East region.

The free event exclusively for carers, foster children and their birth families included a mobile farm, face painting, circus skills, bubble entertainment, football darts, DJ, inflatables and an art tent too.

There was also a market stall area open to the wider public of 20 vendors selling various items such as board games, dog treats, croc charms, stationary, hair accessories, children’s clothing, crystals, jams & chutney, toys, jewellery and books. As well as food such as burgers, fries, tacos, Indian, ice cream, sweets, cakes, tea, coffee, milkshakes and slushies.

The event was a huge success and Hampshire County Council Fostering Service would like to extend a huge thank you to all attendees as well as staff members, volunteers and vendors for delivering such a brilliant event.

Leanne, a foster carer and Hampshire Hive Care Support Worker: We had a lovely day, thank you for organising a fun filled day, the children loved it!
