To help raise the profile of fostering in Gosport, Fostering Hampshire Children were welcomed to the newly refurbished Gosport Museum and Art Gallery over February Half-Term.
Managed by Hampshire Cultural Trust, a charity offering access to culture and heritage in Hampshire, the venue reopened in November following a refurbishment to make the space more accessible to the community. There is something for everyone to enjoy in the venue, including the play gallery for children and talks and workshops for adults.
The museum offers a space for artists and community organisations for exhibitions and engagement. There are also purpose-built learning spaces which give access to museum collections for schools and groups.
Spending the day in the comfort of the warm and cheerful family room, the staff from Fostering Hampshire Children were able to offer free Valentine’s Day crafts to families in the community as well as sharing lots of helpful information about our #OpenYourDoor campaign. Dedicated to finding 150 new foster care households across the county by the end of 2023, the campaign seeks to inspire more residents to change the lives of vulnerable children who need our help.
Over the course of the day, lots of families stopped by to find out more about Fostering Hampshire Children and share the love by creating Valentine’s Day wreaths to display proudly on their doors. As you can see in the pictures below, they did an excellent job!
