Stopping smoking

Information, referral pathways and resources for stop smoking services

Introduction

Smoking remains the leading preventable cause of illness and early death in the UK, contributing to cancer, heart and lung disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia, and pregnancy and childbirth complications. It is a dependency requiring treatment, not just a lifestyle choice.

Services commissioned by Public Health

Smokefree Hampshire is a free, specialist stop smoking service available to anyone who lives or works in Hampshire. The service also has a programme designed specifically to help 12-18-year olds to quit smoking and vaping.

The service offers personalised support tailored to each individual. Evidence shows that people are three times more likely to successfully quit with professional help.

Smokefree Hampshire offers flexible in-person, online or phone support, including free quit aids, practical advice and other helpful resources.
