Volunteering

Our volunteers play a very important role on the farm – mucking out pens, providing animal care, maintenance, helping with our events and activities and generally helping our visitors enjoy their visit.

Farm volunteer

As a farm volunteer, you will be responsible for helping our farmers with their duties across the site. This will include: 

  • mucking out animal pens 
  • general husbandry tasks 
  • animal care and handling 
  • site maintenance 
  • liaising with visitors

Visitor services volunteer

As part of the visitor services team, you'll help deliver information and activities to farm visitors. This can include: 

  • giving information to visitors as they arrive or leave the farm
  • assisting in the visitor centre 
  •  admin tasks for the farm
  • talking to customers around the farm and receiving feedback 

Horticulture volunteer

Working with the Horticulture team, you will help maintain the formal walled gardens, glasshouse and site grounds. This can include: 

  • general planting and weeding 
  • irrigation and maintenance 
  • plant displays 
  • pruning 

Staunton gardens

Who we are looking for

As part of the Staunton Farm volunteer team, we ask that you are: 

  • a friendly and approachable people who love animals and enjoy talking to members of the public 
  • over the age of 18 
  • have good levels of physical fitness – you'll be on your feet for most of the day and may be undertaking farm duties 
  • are interested in history of the farm and helping recreate the former grounds
