Digital bookings and permits at Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
Booking your appointment and applying for a permit online is quick and easy.
- Changes from 24 February 2026
-
Digital permits for vans, pick-ups, and trailers
No more waiting for a paper permit in the post. Once you apply and pay the administration fee, your permit is ready to use as soon as you receive confirmation. This is usually right after payment.
Booking system checks your permit automatically
When you book, the system will confirm if your vehicle has a valid permit. Each booking counts as one of the 12 visits included with your permit.
- Paper permits issued before 24 February 2026
-
Trailer permits
If you have a paper permit for a trailer that’s still valid, you’ll need to show it at the site. These permits aren’t linked to a vehicle registration. When you apply for your next trailer permit, it will be issued digitally. You’ll need to enter the registration of the towing vehicle.
Van or pick-up permits
These have already been converted to digital. You don’t need to show your current permit at the HWRC. The booking system will recognise your vehicle registration.
- Out-of-county customers

If you don’t live in Hampshire, there’s a charge to use HWRCs. This is now paid at the point of booking. Find out more about access to Household Waste Recycling Centres for non-Hampshire residents.
