Book an appointment to visit your Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)
Vehicle registration and booking for Hampshire HWRCs
1. Register your car
If you are a Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton, Dorset or West Sussex resident, you must register your vehicle to receive free access to Hampshire HWRCs.
I'm using a van, pick-up or trailer
If you are bringing household waste in a large vehicle, such as a van, pick-up or a trailer, you may need to apply for a permit.
You do not need to register your vehicle if you have a permit for it. You must register your car if you use it to tow your trailer.
I'm not a Hampshire resident
Residents of Portsmouth, Southampton, Dorset or West Sussex can access all Hampshire HWRCs free of charge. You will need to register your car.
Other non-Hampshire residents will be charged £5 per visit to a Hampshire HWRC. This charge is due on arrival at the HWRC and can be paid by card only, for more information see Out of county customers.
I'm not using my own car
Even if the car you are using is not your own, you should register it to your Hampshire address anyway. You can register up to three vehicles at your address.
2. Book a visit
You must book an appointment to access a Hampshire HWRC.
You will need the registration number of your vehicle.
I'm using a hire van
If you are using a hire vehicle you must book a time slot to visit a Hampshire HWRC. If you have hired a vehicle for no more than three days you do not need a permit. You must bring the hire agreement with you to the recycling centre and show it to site staff when you arrive.
I'm a cyclist
I'm a pedestrian
Some HWRCs offer pedestrian-only access at specific times. Find out more about pedestrian access.
Pedestrians are not permitted access to Hampshire HWRCs outside of these times.
