After you have given notice

Your notice is a legal document which permits you to marry or form a civil partnership. This is normally issued 29 days after your appointment (if you have been informed that your case may be referred to the Home Office Referral Scheme, this period may be extended to 71 days). This is because your notice is publicly displayed in the register office for 29 days before the legal document is issued, allowing for any objections due to lawful impediment.

Following this period, all marriage and civil partnership documents will be automatically issued. You will not be contacted about the notice after the appointment unless there is a problem with your notice.
