The Traveller Excellence Award
About the Award
Developed by the EMTAS Specialist Teacher Advisor team, the Traveller Excellence Award is an online school self-evaluation framework for monitoring the impact of practice and provision for pupils of Traveller heritage.
The Traveller Excellence Award covers five broad areas:
- Leadership & Management
- Pedagogy & Practice
- Data, Assessment & Progress
- Teaching & Learning
- Parental & Community Engagement
The Award process
Advice and guidance from the EMTAS Traveller Team is available to support schools as they engage with the Award, gather evidence of their practice and provision for their Traveller communities, matched to the Award’s descriptors, and complete their submission. A validation visit follows, after which successful schools will receive a certificate, valid for two years, as well as suggestions on ways to continue to develop and embed best practice for Traveller learners and their families.
The Award is free to Hampshire-maintained schools and settings; Academies and settings outside of Hampshire can access it through EMTAS Sold Services.
