Education Financial Services
Education Financial Services (EFS) are a highly successful business unit within Hampshire County Council providing a comprehensive range of professional financial advice and practical support to enable schools to manage their financial activities effectively and efficiently

Managing school finances is one of the most complex and time-consuming tasks for any school, especially with the legal complexities and strict guidelines that surround it. We bring trusted financial support and advice to schools and academies, ensuring the best use of budget and resources.
We recognise that every school is individual, and pride ourselves on taking the time to get to know what makes a school unique so that we can deliver the financial support that is right for them.
With a proven and extensive track record of working with schools, our team of highly experienced accounting practitioners can support schools and academies with any aspect of financial management. From budget planning and compliance through to financial modelling and forecasting, we can also support changing needs as well as the stewardship of delegated funds, helping free up time to deliver the best learning outcomes for pupils.
What our staff say...
Sonia - Senior Finance Adviser
When I started working for Hampshire County Council, I spent 12 years working in school offices, initially in a primary school and then a junior school both in the south of the county.
I then applied to work for Education Finance Services (EFS) and was successful. The job really appealed to me as I particularly enjoyed working on the financial aspects of my role and it was an opportunity to develop my career. At the same time I was able make a difference to the performance of the schools and outcomes for children.
I was encouraged and supported in my career development and was able to complete my AAT qualification whilst working for EFS.
My main responsibilities are providing financial support and advice to a number of schools, either face to face, through group events or via telephone or email. This could be either supporting them through routine financial monitoring, through a period of change or dealing with a difficult financial position. I also support and advise a variety of people involved in schools, including governors as well as headteachers and school finance staff and business managers.
I have progressed within EFS to Senior Financial Adviser having held a number of roles within the service. It is a great place to work where you can really make a difference and I enjoy working with colleagues who are passionate about playing their part in improving the education of Hampshire's children.
