Who are Hampshire County Farms?
It can difficult to get onto the farming ladder. That's where Hampshire County Farms can help. We provide farming opportunities to new farmers looking to develop their skills in agriculture by having their own farm, and then support them through their tenancy with us.
Hampshire County Council is one of 43 smallholding (or ‘council farm’) authorities in England & Wales that offer this service. Acre for acre nationally, council farms are a significant provider of new chances for people to farm.
We also play an active role in looking after Hampshire's environment and tackling climate change.
How we support our tenant farmers
We will support you throughout your tenancy in the management of your business and in your personal wellbeing, through regular dialogue, providing information in a timely way and by facilitating training and mentoring where resources allow. We’ll be keen to recognise and champion your successes within the farming industry and elsewhere.
We will also encourage and support innovative farming techniques, technologies and cropping, along with sustainable, efficient and renewable energy solutions.
