Join us for an adventure! Argoed Lwyd is ideally situated in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), surrounded by dramatic landscape featuring caves, rivers, mountains and waterfalls to explore.
For over 25 years, we’ve had the delight of introducing people of all ages and abilities to these stunning locations to enjoy all that the National Park has to offer. We provide all specialist equipment for the activities such as ropes, helmets, torches. Plus, we have a range of walking boots, rucksacks or waterproofs available. So don't worry if you don't have these, we can lend you ours.
Action Adventures - For children aged 8-15
ACTION ADVENTURE DAYS
Single day = £50 each
Week (Monday to Friday) = £200 (one whole day free!)
Running during the school holidays, our action adventure days offer a taste of the best activities in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Designed to keep children entertained and guaranteed to send them home tired and happy!
They're a fantastic way for children to try climbing, canoeing, caving, gorge walking, bushcraft and more. Each day has a different activity on offer, and all activities are aimed at beginner level.
We make it easy for you - pick up at 9.30am and drop off at 4.30pm from Brecon Bus Station car park, and all the participants need to bring is a change of clothes, a packed lunch & drink and a sense of adventure!
- All essential equipment is provided.
- We will always try to complete the planned activity, but due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, they may be amended.
Adventures for all ages (Ages 7+)
Rock climbing and abseiling day
Fancy learning to climb and be rewarded with a bird's eye view of the national park?
Start your day with some real rock climbing, where our instructors will guide you on the climbing techniques and skills to help you reach the top of the crag. You will also learn how to look after the ropes for your climbing partner. We use a real rock face that's perfect for beginners, so everyone can give it a go, and you will be rewarded with some fantastic views once you do get to the top of the rock face!
After lunch, you will also have the opportunity to learn how to abseil and descend from the top of the crag.

Canoeing adventure day
Take to the water and explore the local area from your canoe. Our instructors will help you learn some paddle skills and guide you on a journey along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal. The canal was once an important transport route for industry and is now a beautiful waterway ideal for boating. Peaceful and rural, with a flavour of times gone by, it’s often voted Britain’s prettiest canal, so why not explore it for yourself?

Caving and waterfall adventure day
Guided by one of our experienced instructors, walk, crawl and climb through real caves full of natural geological wonders. We’ll help you complete some beginner routes to get comfortable with the passages before we take you deeper into the cave and explore more of its underground tunnels.
After a quick lunch stop, it will then be time to head to the waterfalls. 'Waterfall Country' is a part of the National Park that attracts visitors from across the country as it boasts some spectacular waterfalls. Instead of just seeing them, we will take you in and around them, so prepared to get wet!

Rock climbing and gorge walk day
Scale the heights of a crag before exploring the gorge and jump into its pools.
You will start your day with some real rock climbing, where our instructors will guide you on the climbing techniques and skills to help you reach the top of the crag. You will also learn how to look after the ropes for your climbing partner. We use a real rock face that's perfect for beginners, so everyone can give it a go!
After a quick lunch break, it will then be time to head to the gorge. Make your way through the gorge by scrambling the rocks, crawling behind waterfalls and jumping into their pools - it's definitely one for the adrenaline seekers!

Gorge walking adventure
Gorge walking (or gorge scrambling) is an adventure like no other in the Brecon Beacons! You will make your way through the gorge by scrambling the rocks, crawling behind waterfalls and jumping into their pools - it's definitely one for the adrenaline seekers!
Gorge Walking is great for teambuilding, pushing you outside your comfort zone, and giving you an experience never to forget! You will be guided by one of our experienced instructors, who will ensure everyone gets the most out of the experience, and that you have a fantastic time!

Guided mountain walk day
Do you want to explore the Brecon Beacons but aren't sure where to start?
Our experienced instructors are qualified Mountain Leader's who will lead you on a memorable mountain walk, where you will explore the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and reach one of it's peaks. We prefer not to follow the well-trodden paths, so you will enjoy the tranquillity of the outdoors while learning about the area.
Our instructors will also inform you of the geology of the area, it's natural history and the flora and fauna around you. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the Geopark.
This guided walking day is great for families, couples or groups visiting the area wanting to explore the national park and learn a bit more about it along the way.

Caving adventure day
Caving provides a real sense of exploration, adventure, fun and challenge to participants of all ages and abilities. Guided by one of our experienced instructors, you will walk, crawl, and climb through natural caves that are full of natural geological wonders.
During the taster day you will explore the cave, take in it's features and learn how it was formed. You will complete some beginner routes to get comfortable with the passages before we take you deeper into the cave and explore more of its underground tunnels. This is a chance to see a part of the Brecon Beacons National Park that you may not have even known existed, and will be an experience you won't forget!
