Getting here by car
From the south / M4 / Merthyr Tydfil
Leave the M4 at Junction 32 and head north on the A470 towards Merthyr Tydfil (19 miles). After 10 miles drive over the pass and descend into the Tarell Valley. Drive 4 miles down to the village of Libanus past the sign for the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre. Turn left after the Mountains nursing home. You should see a small common with a red phone box, bus stop and the Tai’r Bull Pub. Follow Glan Tarrell (westerly) for 0.5 mile (continue on the lane signposted as a dead end) before reaching Argoed Lwyd Outdoor Education Centre.
From the north / Brecon
Leave the A40 at the roundabout junction with the A470 following signs towards Merthyr Tydfil/Cardiff. After 4 miles turn right in the village of Libanus onto Glan Tarrell (after passing the Tai’r Bull Pub). You should see a small common with a red phone box, and bus stop. Follow Glan Tarrell (westerly) for 0.5 miles (continue to ascend up the narrow lane, signposted as a dead end) before reaching Argoed Lwyd Outdoor Education Centre.
Getting here by bus
The T4 Traws Cymru takes passengers from Brecon and surrounding areas as far as Cardiff, to Tai’r Bull, Libanus. From which, there is a 0.5 mile uphill walk on Glan Tarrell (Westerly - continue on the lane signposted as a dead end) before reaching Argoed Lwyd Outdoor Education Centre.
Getting here by rail
The nearest station is Merthyr Tydfil. From here passengers can take the T4 Traws Cymru bus to Tai’r Bull, Libanus. From which, there is a 0.5 mile uphill walk on Glan Tarrell (Westerly - continue on the lane signposted as a dead end) before reaching Argoed Lwyd Outdoor Education Centre.
Merthyr Tydfil station is about an hour’s bus or train (every 30 minutes) journey from Cardiff central station.
Parking
Parking is free and available (however, it is limited) for all guests/activity participants. To protect our wonderful local wildlife and make parking available to those who need it, please try and bring as few cars as possible.

Opening times
Our office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Although the centre remains open for guests, the office will be closed during bank holidays.
