About us

Located in the beautiful Brecon Beacons with views over to Pen y Fan, South Wales highest mountain, the mountain centre is a converted 19th century traditional Welsh farmhouse that can accommodate large and smaller groups in cottage dormitory style rooms. Facilities include fully equipped kitchens and drying rooms and a communal lounge with log burner.

Taking full advantage of our location, we are licenced and approved to deliver a full range of real, challenging activities, such as mountain walking, gorge scrambling and expeditions.

Family and Group Activities

If you’re looking for excitement, challenge and enjoyment then you need look no further than a visit to the Hampshire & Cass Foundation Mountain Centre. The range and quality of activities are exceptional and irrespective of your length of stay, will provide a memorable experience. No previous experience is required, just a willingness to have a go. 

Everything from one day through to week long residential visits are available, with every programme tailored for the individual group.

Family Activity Courses

A great chance for the family to try some of our popular activities or a great present for the whole family!  Children must be accompanied by at least one participating adult, with a maximum of two children per adult. 

Group Activity Courses

Whether you’re a group of friends wanting a fun day out, you’re organising a celebration with a difference or you’re a club wanting a social event then the Hampshire & Cass Foundation Mountain Centre will be able to provide what your looking for. 

Activities available

  • Rock Climbing and abseiling - using local cliffs 
  • Gorge Walks/Adventure Walks - Great fun and can be very wet!
  • Mountain Walks - We’re based in the heart of the Brecon Beacons
  • Caving - using several local venues all suitable for beginners and experienced groups
  • Canoeing –using local rivers/ reservoirs/canals depending on group needs
 
 

Accommodation only options

Planning to lead your own group on an expedition and need some no nonsense base camp accommodation?  We can even arrange for a caterer to prepare a welcome meal for you are the end of a long day using our onsite kitchens.

Hampshire Outdoor Centres are proud to work in partnership with the Sir John Cass Foundation.  

The Foundation supports a wide range of educational establishments, special educational projects, grants and bursaries in and around the City of London.  With their support the Hampshire & Cass Foundation Mountain Centre has enabled young people from London to experience the beautiful mountains and valleys of the Brecon Beacons.
