By 2016/17, just over 440,000 people in England had been diagnosed with Dementia. In Hampshire, just under 13,000 people had been diagnosed. This number is set to increase.

The profile of dementia has been raised over the last few years through improved detection and diagnosis, the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia 2020 and the creation of dementia friendly communities. Our primary focus is to prevent dementia where possible and enable people with a diagnosis of dementia to live as independently as possible in their community. There is a range of support and information services available for people with dementia, their carers and for professionals.
