Roundhouse
Completed in 2020, our ultra-modern roundhouse is home to our larger livestock. The house was designed to provide comfortable, year-round housing and support for our cattle and sheep, while allowing maximum viewing for our visitors.
The building is bustling throughout the year, with a calendar of seasonal activities and events: lambing and calving in spring, shearing in summer, weaning calves in autumn and housing livestock in winter.
The circular shape of the roundhouse means the animals can always see each other, recreating being together outside. The design means that the space stays cool in summer and warm in winter, acting as central heating for the animals!
The roundhouse is home to Hampshire County Council's conservation grazing herd. This helpful herd move around special countryside sites to help keep these wildlife havens safe and sustainable.
