Ceremony rooms
Hampshire Register Office has four beautiful ceremony rooms to choose from.
The Castle Room is the largest, a splendid room seating up to 42 guests.
The Basing Room seats up to 32 guests. It is luxurious room with stunning period features and a magnificent chandelier.
The Westgate Room seats up to 16 guests. It is a modern and popular choice for a ceremony.
The Avalon Room is the smallest, seating up to 6 guests. It's a beautiful space for your intimate ceremony.

Confetti
There are probably other couples using the facilities on the same day, so to keep the ceremony room looking tidy, please ensure that your guests wait until they are outside before they throw confetti. If possible please use bio degradable confetti. Party poppers and spray string should not be used. Please check with registration staff as some local restrictions apply.
Photographers and video
Videos can be taken at any point before, during and after the ceremony provided that it does not interrupt the proceedings. Please inform the registration staff so that the photographer can be directed to a suitable position. Your guests are welcome to take photographs before and after the ceremony, but the official photographer should speak to registration staff to agree mutually acceptable points at which photographs can be taken during the ceremony.
Photo opportunities
Inside the register office building is a magnificent stairwell and beautiful period features. The historic buildings and cobbled street outside also lend the perfect backdrop for photographs.

Castle Room
The Castle Room is a beautiful room overlooking The Great Hall, featuring the stained glass ‘River of Life’ by John Patsalides. It is located on the second floor of the building, accessed by a grand staircase.
Westgate Room
The Westgate Room is a popular choice if you’re looking for a bright and modern room for an intimate ceremony. Located on the ground floor it is also fully accessible via a temporary ramp.
Front door to reception
Entering through the front door you will find reception to your left. Here you can check in for your appointment, meet before a ceremony, talk to our wonderful reception team, or collect priority certificates!
Lift to Basing Room
The Basing Room is easily accessible via a lift, which can be found next to reception. Just click the button for the first floor, towards the end of the corridor you’ll find the Basing Room through the double doors on your left.
Basing and Castle room, entrance from Cobbles
The Basing Room and Castle Room can be accessed via Castle Avenue, through the grand arch doorway (which is also a perfect spot for photos!). Once you’re in the foyer, for the Basing Room turn left, and for the Castle Room follow the stairs up.
Avalon Room
The Avalon Room is one of our brightest rooms, with a wall of windows bringing in tons of natural light! Located on the ground floor it is fully accessible and perfect for a more intimate affair.
