What we do

We register about 8,000 births and 10,000 deaths every year and deliver nearly 5,000 ceremonies. Marriages and civil partnerships are also a large area of our work, where we support couples from giving notice through to the big day.

We’re also an important part of creating history. The information and statistical data we gather by registering births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships form a key record for future generations. This data also helps the government to provide services such as health and education.
