Trainee teacher
You can’t do better than starting your teaching career in Hampshire by undertaking your training locally. Whether through one of our local university providers or through a school-based route, you will get a great introduction to teaching.

Experienced teacher

Classroom support
There are a variety of classroom-based roles, such as classroom, Learning Support or Teaching Assistants, cover supervisors and special needs assistants. These roles involve directly supporting the work of the class teacher and have an important impact on pupil’s learning and their day-to-day school experience. They are rewarding roles and can also be an invaluable step to becoming a teacher.
Business, finance and administration
Business, Administration and Finance roles within a school are key to its smooth running. Hampshire offers a wealth of support for these roles including in-house teams who provide school-specific HR and Finance support services. There are Conferences and Network Meetings held throughout the year, providing opportunities to network and to update knowledge.
Other roles
As well as admin and classroom support roles, there are many other roles that are key to the successful running of a school such as Site Staff, IT Staff, Specialist and Technical Support, Sports Technicians, coaches and instructors, Lunchtime and catering roles and many others
Apprentices
Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with formal study. Examples of the types of roles available in schools include Administrative or Finance Assistant, Early Years Assistant, IT Technician, Learning Support Assistant. Apprentices are employed on a training contract with the school lasting between 1 and 2 years depending on the type and level of the Apprenticeship.
