Trauma Informed Care
Adults with a learning disability and autistic adults are more likely to experience trauma than the general population. Trauma informed care is a strengths-based and person-centred approach that acknowledges the harm trauma causes, and consequently aims to create a culture dedicated to promoting healing whilst also preventing traumatisation and re-traumatisation. The six principles that the Hampshire Learning Disability Trauma Informed Care Concordat focusses on are Safety, Trustworthiness, Collaboration, Decision Making, Empowerment & Organisational Leadership.
