Sleep

Sleep

Sleep is essential for maintaining levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory and innovative and flexible thinking. Children who do not get enough sleep are at greater risk of becoming obese as older children and adults. They will also struggle to concentrate in the classroom; their behaviour may become affected.

Every child will need a different amount of sleep, but making sure they have a safe, regular bedtime routine to help them sleep well is important. Speak to both parents and children about the importance of a good night's sleep.
