Early Years

Every child should have a healthy start to life. The first 1001 days (from conception to age 2) are recognised as a crucial period during which the foundations for future health and wellbeing are built. Early Years settings can support families to build these foundations, helping them become ready for school and set them up for lifelong health and wellbeing. A whole-setting approach is the most effective way to improve physical and mental health in the early years. Engaging children, their parents or carers, staff and the wider community supports healthy habits to form from a young age.
