Welcome to the River Hamble
The River Hamble is a major centre for all types of recreational boating, home to thousands of sailing yachts and motorboats.
Whether your interest is racing, power-boating or blue water cruising, the Hamble has the facilities you need: deep water, easy access to the Solent at all states of the tide, world-class repair and servicing yards, renowned yacht clubs and a warm welcome.
The Hamble is perfect for weekend excursions into the Solent or as a departure point for destinations further afield and it is used extensively by yachtsmen as a base when competing; Hamble Week, the Hamble Winter Series, Warsash Spring Series, Bursledon Regatta, National, European and World Championships are run by the yacht clubs on the river and attract yachtsmen from far and wide.
The Royal Southern Yacht Club, Warsash Sailing Club, Hamble River Sailing Club and the Royal Air Force Yacht Club frequently combine to organise these well attended and highly competitive events. Visitors are made very welcome and there are visitor berths alongside at Warsash and Hamble, and on mid-stream pontoons as well as some of the marinas.
The river is not just a sailing Mecca... it is a nationally and internationally important site for nature conservation, and is a birdwatchers' paradise. Riverside walks or simply watching the world go by are popular pastimes. If you are visiting as a naturalist, ornithologist, archaeologist, historian, rambler or sightseer you are equally welcome - from the often frenetic boating activity in the lower reaches to the tranquillity of the upper reaches, the Hamble is a unique place with something for everyone to enjoy.
