Communities and support - virtual parent meet-up - all families
Post-order
Held every month in the evening or daytime, our one hour Virtual Parent Meetup is designed for parents post-order who want to explore an adoption related topic, share experiences, and connect with other families online.
Parents who attend our meetups regularly share the themes they would like to understand more about. Whether that is gaining practical tips, exploring new approaches, or preparing for things they may encounter as their children grow and develop. Forthcoming topics include dysregulation, education, sensory needs, wellbeing, identity and life story work.
Meetups are a relaxed and supportive space for parents to come together, talk openly, and share experiences. Our staff will be online to offer help and support.
Each meetup starts with a short, topic‑led discussion from an expert, which may be a member of our Adoption Support Team, our Multi‑Disciplinary Team, or an invited guest speaker. We also make time for questions. The main focus, however, is simply to give parents space to connect, chat, and support one another.
There is no formality to the event. Parents are welcome to join with a drink or their dinner, keep their camera off while topics are being presented if they prefer, and step away at any time to attend to their child or anything else they need. Each session is designed to be relaxed, flexible, and as comfortable and easy as possible for everyone.
Opportunity to explore issues facing my family and then discuss specifics and get ideas - Informal and relaxed. Interesting topic too.
