Empowering Parents

The Empowering Parents course is a 12-week programme of in-person and online sessions, designed for parents of children who have experienced trauma, neglect, or disruptions in their primary caregiver relationships.

This learning programme is endorsed by the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute (DDPI) and focuses on developing an attitude of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE) and includes:

  • Core concepts of developmental trauma and trauma-informed therapeutic care.
  • Practical strategies to support and nurture young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
  • Techniques to build trust and strengthen relationships between parents and children.
  • ‘Taking Care of You’ - ideas to maintain parents’ wellbeing.

Our practical sessions offer parenting tips parents can use at home. Parents will also get the chance to share ideas and experiences with other families, making it a supportive space to learn together.

Attending this course does not affect any other therapeutic ASGSF applications parents may currently be receiving or any potential therapy services in the future.
