Summer Solstice Celebration

Celebrate the longest day of the year from the highest point on the South Downs

21 June 2026 3:30am to 6:30am

Summer solstice sunrise celebration

Save the date and join us for a free community event as we celebrate the longest day of the year.

Meet us at 3:30am outside the Visitor Centre to take part in a special procession. Led by the Druids of the Sylvan Grove, we'll make our way on foot to the top of Butser Hill, where a ceremonial welcome to the sunrise will mark the beginning of the longest day.

Join in with the celebrations and mark the sunrise with breakfast available to purchase from Butser Kiosk.

We look forward to sharing this memorable experience with you.

What you need to know:

  • The walk up Butser Hill is steep and requires a reasonable level of fitness, although you will be able to walk at your own pace.
  • Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather - it is likely to be cold on the top of Buster Hill.
  • We advice you bring a torch and water.
  • Parking charges apply at all times. Please note that our car parks are expected to be busy, so we recommend allow plenty of time to park.
