Video tutorial: How to make beeswax wraps

Did you know there’s an alternative to cling film that’s reusable and much kinder to the environment?

a pair of hands wraps a bread roll in a red piece of beeswax wrap. The surface also has peppers and celery on it.

Of course you did. Just about everyone’s talking about beeswax wraps and how useful they are for covering and wrapping food – from leftovers to sandwiches. And the great news is they’re easy to make, low cost and last ages. You can cut them to any size, so they’re super versatile too.

It’s time to say BEE GONE to picking at rolls of cling film trying to find the edge (so annoying) and BUZZ OFF to the film breaking apart before you’ve even unravelled the amount you need (even more annoying). And give a swarm welcome to healthy, reusable and compostable beeswax wraps!

To make four 30x30cm wraps you’ll need:

  • 200g beeswax (many suppliers online)
  • 100% cotton cloth (enough to cut into four 30x30cm pieces)
  • Scissors
  • A tray
  • A small brush
  • A source of heat (an oven)
