Heidi and Jono's proposal story
Jono and Heidi first met in 2017 while working at the same leisure centre, with Jono in Sales and Heidi as a Personal Trainer. The pair quickly became friends, although Jono was keen to take things a step further, even booking personal training sessions with Heidi in an effort to catch her eye. His persistence paid off, and they began dating in the summer of 2018.
Five years later, during an anniversary trip to Edinburgh, Jono surprised Heidi with a proposal in the privacy of their hotel room. After buying what she thought was simply a bag of Haribo to snack on, Jono got down on one knee and presented her with a Haribo ring. The sweet and unexpected proposal was perfectly suited to the couple, and no, Heidi didn’t eat the ring! It has since been preserved in a resin paperweight as a lasting reminder of the moment they became engaged.
Why did we choose Hampshire for our ceremony?
Having both grown up on the Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire border, we knew we wanted to get married somewhere close to home, especially with so many beautiful venues in the area. We had only viewed two other venues before falling in love with Clock Barn, with its rustic charm and stunning grounds. It was an easy decision to choose it as our venue, and we were so excited to secure our date.
Did you include any unique / personal touches in your ceremony?
We knew from the very start of planning our wedding that we wanted to write our own vows. At the few weddings we had attended, the ceremonies had felt quite formal and, at times, more procedural than romantic. Being able to include something that was uniquely ‘us’ reassured us that our ceremony would feel much more personal. We’re so glad we decided to do it, as exchanging our own vows remains one of our favourite memories from the day, and it’s something we would wholeheartedly recommend that other couples consider.
What was your experience of Hampshire Ceremonies on the day?
We really needn't have worried about the ceremony feeling too formal, as Tricia did a wonderful job of creating a ceremony that was both professional and relaxed, with just the right amount of light-heartedness. Her words were beautiful and certainly brought a tear to many people's eyes.
The ceremony was delivered with confidence and flowed seamlessly from start to finish, making it the perfect beginning to our wedding day celebrations. We would highly recommend Hampshire Ceremonies to anyone looking to get married in Hampshire. The team helped create a truly memorable experience, and you certainly won't be disappointed!
