Hampshire County Council’s Asbestos Management Services is an in-house team, based at Hampshire Scientific Service Laboratory in Southsea.

We are a UKAS accredited testing laboratory No. 0024 and a UKAS accredited inspection body No. 0161.

We offer asbestos awareness training to our internal building users and BOHS approved P-Module training as well as a range of asbestos testing and inspection services. These include building inspections, air monitoring and fibre analysis of bulk materials.

We provide asbestos management controls and training both internally and to contractors working on our estate. Our specialised asbestos services have helped the Council to follow the Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012) and we’ve been managing asbestos on the Council’s estate since before Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations came into effect in 2002. We also provide asbestos advice, testing and inspection services to other public sector bodies.

Our team is made up of dedicated professionals with extensive experience and qualifications. We’re experts in the identification, monitoring and management of asbestos and hold a range of qualifications including BOHS P401 to P405, BOHS S301 and CoC Asbestos. We are equipped with the latest technology, so we can efficiently and accurately record data and send detailed air monitoring certificates (including colour photos and plans) directly from site.

Our representatives sit on the UKAS Technical Advisory Committee for Asbestos, the HSE's Duty to Manage Working Group, the HSE's Analysts and Surveyors Working Group and the HSE Fibre Proficiency Testing Steering Committee. We're members of NORAC and we also support the aims and goals of FAAM and encourage membership.
