Hampshire County Council Asbestos Management Services provide training courses which are available at venues to suit your needs or online.
For HCC Staff we offer Asbestos Awareness training that is tailored for those who work on HCC's estate, in line with the requirements of HCC's Corporate Asbestos Procedure. This training is required by Responsible Managers, Nominated Responsible Persons, all staff with Facilities Management responsibilities and HCC Surveyors / Property Management Staff who commission works which may disturb the fabric of a building.
We also offer British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Proficiency Module courses.
We have the following courses available:
- P402: Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings
- P403: Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM)
- P404: Clearance Testing and the Requirements of a Certificate for Reoccupation
The RP402 Surveying & Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings Refresher course is currently in development.
P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings covers surveying and sampling strategies for asbestos in buildings. This is one of two surveying qualifications recognised within the asbestos industry alongside the RSPH Level 3 Award For Asbestos Surveying.
P403 Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM) gives analysts the knowledge and skills required to safely take air samples, prepare fibre counting slides, and accurately analyse these slides under a microscope (using Phase Contrast Microscopy) to identify airborne fibre levels within the area sampled.
P404 Clearance Testing and the Requirements of a Certificate for Reoccupation gives analysts the skills and knowledge required to undertake all four stages of the clearance process thoroughly and safely. It also teaches you how to identify any outstanding asbestos risks, and how to issue a certificate for reoccupation when you are satisfied the site is safe to re-occupy.
