My Firefighters' pension

How will my pension be paid?

Your Firefighters' pension is paid directly into your nominated bank or building society account and is taxable.

Your pay date depends on what scheme you were in at your date of leaving:

Pension Scheme Your Pension is paid
Firefighters' Pension Scheme 1992 (FPS 1992)  in advance on the 1st of the month (or the last working day before the 1st, if the 1st is a weekend or bank holiday)
Firefighters' Pension Scheme 2006 (FPS 2006) or Firefighters' Pension Scheme 2015 (FPS 2015)  on the last day of the month (or earlier if the last day is a weekend or bank holiday)

The three fire schemes:

  • Firefighters' Pension Scheme 1992
  • Firefighters' Pension Scheme 2006 and
  • Firefighters' Pension Scheme 2015

are collectively known as the Firefighters' Pension Scheme (FPS).

Payslips and P60s

Your payslips and your P60 can be viewed or downloaded for printing through our Member Portal. Our Member Portal allows you to manage your pension at a time and place that suits you. To register or log on go to: Member Portal

If you are unable to use our Member Portal, then you can write to us (not email) and ask to receive paper copies of your payslips and P60. Please include your national insurance number. We will then post you:

  • a payslip twice a year, before the April and May payments are made,
  • your P60 after the end of the tax year (usually May) and
  • an annual newsletter.

Your P60 is produced after the end of each tax year and shows you the amount of pension paid and tax deducted during the year.

If you have any tax queries, you should contact HM Revenue and Customs on 0300 200 3300.
