Transitional members (members of two schemes)

Many members have pension benefits in two different Firefighters’ pension schemes, because of the 2015 changes. Your benefits in each separate scheme are governed by the regulations of that scheme.

In each scheme you:

• pay contributions at the current rate for that scheme (2015 scheme)
• receive benefits at the relevant retirement date
• have your commutation calculated using the appropriate factors
• at retirement, be able to make a different decision for each set of benefits
