The hirer is responsible for their own safety and understands they are participating in an unsupervised activity.
Calshot Activities Centre staff will be monitoring the operating area and provide support for hirers only in exceptional circumstances.
Hampshire Outdoor Centres require all water users to wear a buoyancy aid whilst on the water.
All hirers must follow all instructions given by Calshot Activities Centre staff.
All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
All participants will receive a briefing from an instructor prior to being permitted to go afloat.
Respect the environment, other water users. Leave no trace.
2. Medical / swimming:
The hirer considers all participant’s to be fit and able to participate in the activities.
The hirer confirms that they have parental responsibility for any participants under 18 years of age.
The hirer confirms all participants can swim and are water confident (including submerging head without becoming distressed).
In the event of an incident and/or injury, the hirer will alert a member of staff at the centre, who will take the appropriate action.
3. Equipment, late and non-returns:
The hirer shall ensure that the craft is only used by those listed on the hire form and within the specified area of operation.
The hirer will treat all equipment with care and report immediately any issues which may arise.
The hirer is not permitted to make any structural or other alterations to the hired craft.
The hirer is responsible for keeping track of time during their hire period and ensure all hired goods are returned.
Failure to return the craft within the time will result in being charged for an additional full hire.
Single kayaks must not have more than one person on board and are suitable from 10+ years. Max load 125kg.
Double kayaks two people only and are suitable from 5+ years. Under 10s must be accompanied by an adult (18+) on the same craft. Max load 220kg.
10’6 SUP must only have one person on board. Min age 12. Recommended max load 95Kg. Total max load 150Kg.
10’10 SUP must only have one person on board. Min age 12. Recommended max load 120Kg. Total max load 200Kg.
12’ SUP must only have one person on board. Min age 12. Recommended max load 130Kg. Total max load 220Kg.
4.Payments, pricing and cancellations:
The hirer accepts that the hire session may need to be cancelled at short notice or on the day, due to prevailing weather conditions if deemed unsafe to operate.

5. Loss or damage:
The hirer shall be responsible for the loss of, or damage to equipment which is the property of Hampshire County Council, except when loss or damage to equipment is as a result of the negligence of Hampshire County Council.
Hampshire Outdoor Centres accepts no responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, property or injury, illness or death unless caused by its own negligence.
The hirer shall, at their own expense recompense any third party for loss of or damage to property, injury or death of any person caused by the hirer’s negligence during the hire period.
The hirer will be liable for the replacement of a hired craft, or equipment, in event of such loss.
The hirer will be liable for any deliberate damage caused to the craft or equipment, to be determined at Hampshire Outdoor Centres sole discretion.
6. Termination:
The hirer will be responsible for ensuring that the conditions of hire are complied with. In the event of the hirer breaching any of the conditions of hire, Hampshire Outdoor Centre may, at their discretion, cancel the booking and all future bookings. The hirer shall remain liable for all charges, including cancelled future bookings.
