A permissive footpath following part of the former railway line between Bishop's Waltham and Botley, Bishops Waltham Local Nature Reserves
About the site
The Botley to Bishop's Waltham railway was closed in 1962. At the northern end of the line a 1km section is now a permissive footpath and forms part of the King’s Way and Pilgrims Trail.
The old wooden gates and a short section of rails have been retained.

Oak, Field Maple, Blackthorn and Hawthorn line the route, creating habitat for Treecreeper, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest and Blackcap. Male Ferns, Wood Avens and Herb Robert can also be found along the path.
