Gutner Point

Grassland, saltmarsh and inter-tidal mudland extending into Chichester Harbour

Ducks

About the site

The harbours that surround Hayling Island are home to tens of thousands of birds. At low tide these birds feed on the exposed mud. At high tide these birds communally ‘roost’ on the foreshore to conserve energy.

Gutner Point on the eastern side of Hayling Island is home to one of the largest roosts in Chichester Harbour.

To help maintain this vital area there is no public access here.
