RYA start windsurfing
An introduction to windsurfing for beginners, covering everything you need to know to get afloat under supervision and riding light winds.
Through a short land-based session, your instructor will introduce you to the equipment and will guide you through the fundamentals of windsurfing. We aim to maximise your time on the water, so you get the most out of the course.
While out on the water, your instructor will guide you through the skills needed to be able to confidently sail to a chosen point on the water, do turning manoeuvres known as tacking and gybe in light winds.
- Those aged 14 and 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult. If this isn’t possible, please look at our youth courses

RYA intermediate windsurfing
Ready to progress your skills, making your windsurfing faster and more fluid?
Participants for this course must have windsurfing skills to the standard of RYA start windsurfing, or youth course stage 2.
Our instructors will help you build your confidence on the water, coach you through more fluid transitions and introduce new techniques such as beach starting and using a harness.
By the end of the course, you’ll be using more advanced sails, be more confident in sailing in stronger winds, and have faster tacking and gybing.

RYA – stage 1 windsurfing
Following the RYA youth courses scheme, this course is an easy and accessible way to get started and progress in this exciting sport. Designed to get participants up and windsurfing over two full days, they'll be hooked from their first try and will be riding the wind in no time.
Through a short land-based session, our instructors will introduce the equipment and will guide participants through the fundamentals of windsurfing. Whilst out on the water, our instructors will teach the basic skills of making ground upwind and downwind while doing tacking and gybing turning manoeuvres.
Our course maximises time on the water, and we have specialist equipment for young windsurfers so they can make the most of the course.

RYA – stage 2 windsurfing
This course will help participants grow in confidence and progress their skills out on the water – windsurfing around a course.
Participants for this course must have windsurfing skills to the standard of RYA –stage 1.
Our instructors will help develop the skills required to make more fluid transitions, improve tacks and gybes, building confidence on all points of sail.
