The Young Tree Grower’s Guide

The Hampshire Forest Partnership and The Tree Council have developed a free Young Tree Growers Guide, designed to teach young people and their families about growing trees from seeds. It guides the reader through every step of the process, including seed gathering, germination, caring for newly planted trees, and the best place to plant your new sapling.

Aimed at 7- to 11-year-olds, our guide is suitable for use in schools, activity clubs and at home.

If you’ve got a young tree grower in your life, visit your local country park to gather your seeds and enjoy Hampshire’s countryside. Once the seeds have germinated, encourage them to plant their trees in a suitable spot so they can watch them flourish, or help them connect with local schools, volunteers or other groups to find the trees suitable homes.

Share photos and videos of your tree-growing efforts with us on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #YoungTreeGrowersGuide. We look forward to seeing your trees!
