Hampshire Forest Partnership have teamed up with Rushmoor Borough Council to offer Rushmoor residents the opportunity to adopt trees. This means that you can apply to receive up to two free trees per residential address from a selection of 12 native species to plant in your garden this winter.
The adoptable trees have been chosen for their suitability to local conditions and their benefits to biodiversity and pollinators. You can choose trees suitable for your garden size, including wild cherry (Prunus sp), hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata), and crab apple trees (Malus sylvestris).

Why are we giving away trees?
The Big Tree Giveaway was launched at the Rushmoor Eco Fair at Southwood Country Park on 9 September. The scheme is designed to help increase the canopy cover in Rushmoor, which is one of the more urban areas of Hampshire.
Every tree planted as part of the Big Tree Giveaway will help enhance the local environment of Rushmoor by cooling the air (particularly important with our increasingly hot summers), absorbing pollution, and supporting nature recovery.
How to get your free trees
You have until 31 January 2024 to apply. Applicants must live in Rushmoor Borough and be willing to send us a photo of their tree when it’s planted. You’ll also need to upload your tree to our map.
