Liss Parish Council’s new community orchard

Jun 9 2023

Newly planted trees in a field

This February, Liss Parish Council planted a new community orchard with local volunteers in partnership with The Tree Council and Hampshire Forest Partnership. The 20 fruit trees planted in the heart of the village on Mill Road included a range of apple, cherry, damson, mulberry and plum fruit trees. Later, wildflowers will be planted beneath the trees, further enhancing the site’s biodiversity.

The Mill Road orchard is part of the Liss neighbourhood plan to enhance the village’s character, contribute to the quality of the environment, community life, and protect the landscape and wildlife.

If you’re a local resident, parish councillor, business, teacher, landowner or farmer who has land that’d be perfect for a similar tree planting event, we’d love to hear from you. Visit our get involved page to find out more.
