Looking for the perfect spot to moor your boat? We proudly manage over 600 midstream moorings on the River Hamble for The Crown Estate. Combining easy Solent access, superb local communication facilities, and a full local suite of marine services, it is one of the most popular and budget-friendly choices for boat owners in the region. Available mooring configurations include piled berths (some featuring privately owned pontoons), continuous pontoons, and a limited number of site moorings.

Because our River Hamble moorings are highly sought after, we operate a waiting list for prospective holders. Wait times vary significantly by category; some options open up relatively quickly, while our most popular mooring sizes can have a waitlist of ten years or longer.

How it works

Our mooring waiting list operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis for each mooring category. Membership costs £30 per calendar year (January to December) and is renewable each year (paid in advance). To apply or renew, you must complete an online form.

Important: You must complete the membership form and submit your payment on time. Missing the Harbour Authority's deadline will result in automatic removal from the waiting list, and/or the loss of accrued seniority.

Charges

Harbour dues are fees paid by river users that allow the Harbour Authority to maintain its statutory responsibilities, preserve local wildlife and keep the river safe. Harbour Dues are included in your invoice forming part of your mooring fees.

Pontooned moorings (privately owned)

A selection of mid-stream pile moorings feature privately owned pontoons. The allocation of these specific moorings may require the incoming holder to acquire a financial stake in the pontoon structure. It is the sole responsibility of the mooring holder to finalize these financial arrangements and secure the appropriate insurance coverage. The moorings manager will provide the necessary contact details for the respective pontoon owners to facilitate this process.

Private pontoons must be kept in a fully serviceable condition at all times (in accordance with the terms of the mooring licence). The Harbour Authority reserves the right to order the removal of any pontoon judged to be a safety hazard.
