Public slipways and maintenance piles

There are public slipways at Warsash, Hamble-le-Rice, Lower Swanwick and Bursledon

All vessels launched must display a harbour dues annual sticker or pay a daily charge. These are available from the Harbour Office, Shore Road, Warsash.

Shore Road, Warsash, Hampshire, SO31 9FR.

Warsash is the best site for access to Southampton Water and The Solent. The rivermouth is 1500 metres along the 6 knot limited channel.

Vehicle access is from Shore Road, via Passage Lane, opposite the Rising Sun public house. It can accommodate several launching vehicles and boats at once on a wide gravel slipway and hard. There is a shallow gradient reaching to the low water line.

Parking facilities

Free 4 hour stay (April-October). In the car park adjacent to the Rising Sun and 7 day parking for cars and trailers entered from Passage Lane.

The Quay, Hamble, Hampshire, SO31 4HB

At Hamble-le-Rice a gravel slipway reaches the low water mark between Hamble Quay and the Royal Southern Yacht Club. There are maintenance piles on the upstream side.

Access is from Hamble High Street via The Quay, a one way street.

Lower Swanwick

Swanwick Shore Road, Swanwick, Hampshire, SO31 7EF

Lower Swanwick is ideal for small craft giving the quickest access to the Upper Hamble.

Access is along Swanwick Shore Road. Turn off the A27 (Bridge Road) on the east side of Premiere Marina. There is a hard gravel slip reaching the low water mark, marked with piles on its upstream edge.

Lands End Road, Bursledon, Hampshire, SO31 8DN

On the west side of the river at Bursledon there is a good gravel dinghy launching area.

Access from Lands End Road, leading from the High Street and Station Hill.
